SNOWY DAY TREAT: SNOW CREAM RECIPE!

Well this month has been one of the ‘snowiest’ that this part of the country has seen in quite some time! We got 15 inches of snow (which is unheard of) in a matter of 24 hours! I know that if you are from the Northern part of the country you are laughing at that…but we are just not prepared for that kind of weather in this neck of the woods! The entire state just shut down!

Well we decided to make the best of our snowy situation and make Snow Cream!!

It was so easy! See the step-by-step below:

First combine 1 cup of heavy cream, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1tsp of vanilla and a pinch of salt (preferably sea salt).

Side note on the salt: this Salt was generously given to be by a dear friend who traveled to Europe. She loves to buy special spices and such when she travels overseas! I use it in my regular Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream recipe and it just adds a special flavor! Since it is from France, it makes my vanilla “French Vanilla” ice cream! 😂

Okay, enough about that! Add all of those ingredients and whisk until well combined.

Next comes the snow! I use anywhere from 5 to 8 cups of fresh snow. We left a bowl outside to catch the snow as it was falling. I added 5 cups first and folded it into the creamy mixture. Once combined, I added the remaining 3 cups.

Most of the recipes that I have seen call for you to pour the liquid mixture over the snow, but I like to add the snow into the mixture, as it leads to less melting. Snow melts really quickly, so you have to work fast!

Once completed, serve immediately, or you can opt to put in the freezer for about 15 minutes to stiffen it back up.

It makes much more than this! This was AFTER I served it into individual bowls!

Then you are free to accessorize any way you wish….chocolate or caramel syrup, sprinkles, crushed cookies, mini chocolate chips…whatever you desire!

Bon Appétit!!
